How To Fit A Pack
Sponsored by JanSport
JanSports harness plate is the key to our easy-to-fit backpack system. Allowing for simple adjustment of both torso length and shoulder width guarantees maximum comfort regardless of height or load requirements. Weve updated the technology with stronger connectors, ensuring durability and longevity of the pack.

1. Measure the torso length between the C7 vertebrae and the top of the hip bone. Select a pack that is within the users torso length, see chart.
2. Loosen all webbing, straps, and load lifters. With a moderate load in the pack, put the pack on by positioning the hipbelt centered over the hip bones and tighten hipbelt until snug.
Next, tighten the shoulder straps slightly to keep the pack held to the users back while maintaining the weight on the hips. The shoulder straps should contour around the shoulder | |
| 3. Adjust the load lifter straps to approximately a 45 degree angle. | |
| 4. If the gap between the shoulders and the pad is too large adjust the harness plate lower to shorten the torso setting. If there is too much space between the shoulders and the back panel adjust the harness plate higher. | |
