Dahlgren Footwear was founded in 1979 with a goal of creating the worlds finest socks. In 1991, after several years of producing The Cotton Foot, a very popular sock that featured a cotton foot and acrylic top, the patented Dri-Stride was introduced to rave reviews.
The first of its kind, the Dri-Stride features a 2 step zone construction system to drier feet: Step 1: Absorb.
Patented zone construction uses natural yarns in the toe and heel to absorb moisture Step 2: Transfer.Wickspun acrylic in the arch, instep, and leg transfers moisture out of the toe and heel zones, keeping the foot drier and more comfortable.
 What natural yarns are used?
- For cold temperatures, a blend of equal parts Alpaca and Merino wool are used in the toe and heel.
- For cool to moderate temperatures, Dahlgren Footwear uses a blend of 60% Merino Wool, 30% Alpaca in the toe and heel.
- For moderate to warm temperatures, Dahlgren used a blend of 50% Merino Wool, 25% Alpaca, and 25% Pima Cotton
- For warm temperatures, Dahlgren uses a blend of 85% Pima Cotton and 15% Alpaca.
 Why Alpaca?
Merino wool is soft, warm, and able to handle moisture well. However, when used alone, is not durable enough for use in performance socks. By contrast, Alpaca is 3 times more durable than wool, 10 times warmer, significantly softer, and has excellent moisture absorbency. By combining alpaca with merino wool and/or pima cotton, we are able to utilize each fiber to the best of its ability, and with Dahlgrens patented zone construction, the problem of all natural socks holding moisture and becoming wet and uncomfortable is solvedfeet are drier and more comfortable in any environment.
