First time trying Zappos and Lowa, and I was extremely happy with both. The boots are amazingly comfortable out of the box, have a nice clean simple look and are made very well. No complaints. Will definitely buy Lowa again next time.

Only boots with leather lining - I am very particular about my hiking boots, because my feet are very wide and I have high arch. Lowa boots fit very well and are only boots with leather lining on the market. I am getting ready to hike around Aspen, Colorado and these boots are very comfortable. There is no need for breaking time. They are heavier then I expected. Overall I would recommend them to serious hikers. Zappos service impeccable as usual.

Best Geocaching boots ever - At first there a bit stiff but man after about only a week of wearing the boots were pretty much conformed to me feet and man do they rock. I do a lot of geocaching and even tromping through streams my feet have never gotten wet. Plus the traction is amazing on steep inclines. Drop the big cash and get a pair of these now, well worth it.

6 months and counting - Bought these about 6 months ago. And wrote a review 5 months ago and there even better! The sole is grippier and they have literally molded to my feet. You need to wax them to keep your feet waterproof, even when I wrench the laces theres no pinching, no blisters, and no problems. After framing through the winter there not for extreme cold but at 5 degrees and smart wool mountaineering socks with chemical heating pads kept me out all day. they stick to everything. I can walk up snow that other guys would go around or leap. I can jump out of the back of my truck and hit the ground with no pain. Quite a feat for the boot being 6'5" and 250" nonetheless the best boot ever ever! I've even seen through the "gore-tex" bs. Will write again in 5-6 months.

Month 1 and counting - I bought these off the shelf after trying innumerous boots at the store. First day fit was a little tight. Two weeks into them the fit has customized to my foot, the footbox opened up providing more wiggle room. I'm a carpenter and walk on every type of terrain everyday then I go sheet a roof at 40 degree slope and never felt like I was going to slip off plywood two stories up! I'm a sweaty guy and have sweated through the leather by the balls of my feet and the rubber rand has separated a bit but by far the best boot I have come across ever, definitely worth the investment.

Lowa Banff - I ordered the narrow width, and they still were a bit wide, but the fit otherwise was perfect, true to size. I wore them on a week long hiking trip about 2 weeks after I got them, with very little "breaking in" time.

Wrap your foot in butter cream. And I don't mean grease it! The Banff is a very nicely built piece of footwear. The entire interior is lined in the softest leather you may ever feel. Upper ankle support is nicely rigid, but not such that its uncomfortable. Heel pocket is suited to a narrow fit. I would like a much higher arch, but thats true of all footwear.. Toe box is roomy for a little spreading of the toes under load. I would only change the lacing by making it lace-to-toe. Broke my heart to return em. I have a low volume foot that likes a fit thats more snug in the instep.

Finally!!! It is with great happiness that I write this review. These are the best boots that I have ever tried on! I have ordered literally 10 pairs of boots from Zappos and these by far have been the best and most comfortable boot I have worn. They are heavy duty and the most impressive thing about the boot is the leather inner. It literally molds to your foot as you wear it more and more. I have a difficult foot to fit and these are the only boots that I have tried on in the past 6 months that have made the grade. Definitely order them if you are even thinking about it! Zappos is the best to order from. Ordered the boots on a Tuesday night and had them by Thursday afternoon.

Lowa Banff - I bought a pair to hike the AT, they felt great right out of the box, I wear an 11 but went up to a 11.5 it gave me a snug heel and plenty of toe room. Just to be safe I broke them in over a 1 month period with longer and longer hikes which was definitely over kill. Never blistered and No hot spots. They ain't cheap but they will probably last longer than I will.

Not for the wide of foot - As you see in the image of these boots there is a band of rubber running around the entire boot. This rubber does not seem friendly to the idea of stretching so far. I have had these boots for a month and I have worn them every day to break them in for the spring. If you have a wide foot, or foot break, so far I'd say check out something else. My understanding from other reviews is that there is no difference in foot bed width from the Reg to the Wide and that's where the trouble is- where the rubber won't give.

Steady performer - It's hard to find narrow (B) width boots for serious hiking and backpacking. These boots are a solid performer without a lot of gimmicky stuff on them. They were a little difficult to fit with my hybrid crampons. I would make the rubber rand go a little farther up on the toe for added protection. A good boot though, worth the investment.

I tried lots of different boots, and settled on the Lowas because they were available in a narrow width. Initial out of the box impressions, very nice looking boot. Walking around the house they felt good, but expect them to be stiff when you first start wearing them. Mine took about two weeks of wear to start to break in good. I wore them on a four mile hike the second day, up a steep and rocky trail. Only a couple of minor hotspots. I was very pleased with the arch support and how well these boots fit through the heel. I really like the all leather lining, very comfortable and the clima-cool system seems to help. I haven't had any problems with waterproofing. Using Nikwax aqueous treatment for suede/nubuck and the water just beads up.

Great boot for backpacking, wide width is not truly "wide" First of all, Zappos service is great. I don't think you can go wrong with these folks and they've always been courteous and prompt. I got my boots in two days. I'm an avid backpacker. New Mexico terrain is diverse but mostly rugged. Walking on barely maintained trails with baseball size rocks, tree roots, and boulder strewn trail slopes can punish your feet. I have never owned anything other than leather-lined midweight hikers but they are getting hard to find. Lowa's Banff is a nice hiking boot, equivalent to what used to be readily available years ago (Raichle). Lowa should let folks know that their wide widths for the Banff mean that the volume of the boot is "wider" but not the actual foot bed. A side-by-side comparison (I ordered the M and W) reveals that the insert and sole of the medium and Wide are identical. They have merely made the toe area "boxier". For folks like me who are marginally wide (2E), I'm better fitted for medium. I think 4E folks who do have a wide footprint might have a tougher time. Otherwise, it is a very nice boot and one of the few leather-lined.

Long trips with a heavy load - The Lowa Banff's provide the needed ankle support I need for heavy backpacking. These boots are not meant for routine or light hiking but for the long hikes on rough terrain with a heavy load. I do a lot of desert hiking and several trips a year at Grand Canyon. Great protection vs. jagged rocks, cactus spines. I did remove the factory inserts and replaced with some with more arch support cushioning. Zappos got them to me on time and to order!

Lowa Banff - I goofed a bit. After reading reviews from various sites I decided to buy these boots online. Around the house felt great. However, when I got onto rough trails where the foot is stressed, I developed heel blisters. Being I had already worn these and treated them, I couldn't send them back so I felt I had to try and make them work for me. I added an after market foot bed, a sock liner, vaseline to the heels, and a different lacing technique. Well yesterday I did a rough 11 miles on a trail that I knew I could bail out on after 4 miles. These boots performed GREAT. The longer I hiked the more comfortable they became. They gave me all the support I could ever ask for with plenty of toe box. The soles walked over the many rocks with ease. Although not the initial proper heel fit for me I can't fault the boot for that. *If they fit your foot, these are truly GREAT durable boots. Opinions: Break-in required: Yes a bit; Quality: High; Support: High; Heavy: Doesn't feel like it; Comfortable: *Yes; Love the ALL-leather construction.

Good for narrow feet- Previously, I owned a pair of Montrails, which never fit right. I liked the way that the Montrail's looked, and convinced myself that they would fit. Wrong! I tried different beds, double socks, etc., but I always got blisters on hikes of more than a few miles. I haven't taken these Lowa's hiking yet, because it's still winter, but I'm fairly convinced that they will not blister my narrow feet. I've been wearing them almost daily and they feel great. They are rugged boots, good for backpacking over granite, etc.

These boots are comfortable and require little to no break-in period. I wore them around the house for one day before wearing them on a 10-mile hike while carrying a 40 pound backpack. I developed one hot spot, but no blisters on my feet. I wore them a week later on an 8-mile hike with another 40-pound load and had no problems at all. They are great boots.

Great shoe - This product appears to be as advertised. I have made several day trips into the mountains with a light backpack. The boots are comfortable, have great support and excellent traction. This may be the best boot I have ever worn into the mountains.

Multi-purpose boot- This is probably the best all-around boot I have ever owned. I've used it for bird watching walks, early season hunting and moderate to extreme hiking with and without heavy packs. Simply put: just a really comfortable boot.
