Multiple Moleskin - I just returned from a 4 day backpacking trip to the South San Juan Wilderness. I had only worn these boots around the house, but they seemed fine. Fortunately I packed moleskin (which I have never needed to use before in decades of backpacking). First the heels started rubbing and burning, so I tightened the boots down tighter to hold the heel in place. It helped a little. (The heel pocket is not well formed and did not hold my heel down by itself.) When I added moleskin to both heels and kept the boots tight, the heel pain went away. However, I started getting pain on the outside of one ankle and near the instep in both. Moleskin helped there, but did not solve it completely. I'll keep trying on these on some day hikes, but don't know if I'll be able to use them for the long haul. The one thing that I really liked was that they kept out water great. The trip involved walking through deep snow drifts, crossing many little streams and walking in water on the trail.
