Mephisto Nautic - A true deck shoe with more structure and support than usual deck shoes which offer little arch support or cushioning for the bottom of the foot. It also works well as a casual shoe. It is not inexpensive, but I feel that the price is fair for the high quality.

A boat shoe made for walking - The Mephisto is much more comfortable than my Timberland or Sperry boat shoes because it has a cushion that the others lack. It also seems to have good water repelling soles but I have yet to test it on deck. I do a lot of sailing on Lake Michigan; most of that sailing is day sailing or cruising (not racing). That means that if I sail into a new port I must do a lot of walking. My one concern is that my black Nautics have black soles instead of a lighter color. My brown ones came with a lighter color, but not white. I am hoping that they won't scuff the deck.

Most Comfortable - Mephisto has returned to the broad-toed shoe that originally made them so comfortable. These have to be the most comfortable shoes I have ever had, for ambling and standing around. They are not hiking or walking shoes, per se, but as everyday shoes they are unexcelled. I think the new soles Mephisto is using are also outstanding. They also are broad-based and supportive. I have worn the Hurricane’s for years, and still have some. These are an excellent heir to the line.

Great show, watch the size - This is my second pair of Mephisto boat shoes and I couldn't be happier. Every other shoe I have is size 13 or 47 for Ecco. Both of my Mephistos are 12 and fit perfectly.

Comfortable boat shoes - The Mephisto Nautic is quite comfortable with or without socks. Like most boat shoes they could find a substitute for the stylish rawhide laces that stayed laced!

Mephisto Nautic - I have owned Sperry Top-Siders gold cups for long time. When I got this shoe it is so much better in comfort. This shoe does not flatten out like most boat shoes. Do NOTE: the size is tricky in Mephistos, I wear a 11.5 med in shoes. This I needed in 11 med. I stand a lot on hard floors, and this shoe has a great support with the air bag system built in it. One more thing, Zappos ROCKS! One day to get this shoe!! Buy it you will love it.

Mephisto Nautic - It's a great shoe as a general knockabout. I wear it to work to see if the comfort is sustained, which it is. The shoe laces are a bit long so I adjusted the length after adjusting the tension of the lace around the body of the shoe. I purchased shoe to wear on our cruise to Barcelona this spring on the Disney Magic. I'm so happy with it that I'm going to wear it alone with my stable of Mephisto Match and Ecco Sea Walker. I wear orthotics and the Nautic accommodates them perfectly. The Nautic is a really great shoe! If you buy in to the European philosophy about sizing your shoes so your feet have room for movement, you will really like the Nautic. Buying them at Zappos.com was great! With their free overnight service, I ordered the shoes on Sunday and got them on Monday! Thanks Zappos!

The Best Boat Shoe on Zappos.com! This shoe is extraordinarily handsome, which one may not expect in a boat shoe. Easily adaptable for all casual wear, the shoe looks and feels great, although it is a bit tight, something that has so far not abated with wear. Still, for comfort and style, one would be hard pressed to find a better boat shoe anywhere. Highest recommendation!

Very loose fitting - I love Mephistos, and I thought I would branch away from the Match line when I got these. They are very comfortable, but I never felt like I could get them tight enough where I felt like I had comfortable support. I returned them. I think a lot of what I experienced is the nature of it being a boat shoe, so if that is the feel you want you will love this shoe. If you are looking for something that gives great support, I would look elsewhere.

Most comfortable boat shoe EVER - This boat shoe is heaven on earth. It's very attractive, it obviously reeks of quality, but best of all the fit and comfort are just out of this world. The leather lining is a smooth cushion above, below and to the sides of your foot. It is delightful to have these on. I use mine basically as house slippers and these shoes make me want to get home from work and put them right on! They do cost quite a bit more than most boat shoes, but they're so well made and comfortable that they're just worth every cent. Trust me on these, they are keepers. By the way - get them ½ size smaller than your usual shoe size, as they are made a bit larger than marked.

Awesome - Best shoes ever! Extremely comfortable, no break-in needed. Super soft leather. Great quality. They do run really big. I wear a 12.5 in running shoes and an 11 in these. It might be better to try them on somewhere before you order.
