ASOLO Always delivers! I know I have a pair boots that will last for years to come. I live in an alpine environment where weather can change without notice, and these boots have already proven their mettle. Size was right on point, and the wide boot fit just right. The description was also accurate in stating that the sole construction actually propels your gait. Best shoe purchase in years!

I want more rain and tougher terrain - Bought these for a weeks trek in the mountains of Germany and they did wonderful. Wore them a few days prior to break them in, but not sure I needed to. They kept my feet comfy and dry in spite of summer downpours almost daily. Plus, no worries about trail hiking or slippery rocks.

Still Breaking in - I've worn these boots for a few weeks now, and bought them specifically to do hiking on wet, fairly flat, river bank trails. I wore them for a couple of weeks to break them in, and then went on my first 13 mile walk last week. Sadly, the leather above the toe lost its finish within a few days of normal wear (I think I have my feet under my chair when I sit so the top of the toe is touching the floor). But that was cosmetic. Happily, the boot is strong, and fits nicely. The toe is sturdy and the tread is deep. The laces are just fantastic in tightening. I'm looking for an insole after my first walk as the balls of my feet hurt. This is probably due to inadequate breaking in? Size was good, and I have a normal width foot. The color was a little different, but looking back at the image I see why I assumed they would be greyer. I ordered black. Overall nice boot, and glad I forked out this much cash for it. My previous boots were Timberland and Caterpillar.

Finally!! Excellent support, lace system is the best I have used, quality is top notch, and they are as water proof as my rubber waders. Broke them in on a 9 mile summit hike in the winter with no hot spots or blisters. With proper socks these can definitely be 4 season boots.

It sounds strange, but it actually propels you forward. It's worth the dough even if you are not using them for hikes or trails...I go everywhere with them.

GREAT BOOT - This is a fantastic boot for people who appreciate technological advances in foot ergonometry and a newly available wide size. The pulley system evenly distributes frontal lacing and the upper lacing can cinch comfortably to a narrow heel, without sacrificing a uniform fitting. Therefore, assuring that the heel does not ride upward with every step because this shoe also has an additional European internal forward slant enabling sure-footed counter balancing upon each forward step. Thus, your foot step lands firmly, and flatly, on the ground. Similar to Danskos technology for proper posturing. Great when on ice and snow - just wear proper socks, no cotton. This boot will be appreciated by those who climb, backpack, hike, or just enjoy a proper fitting boot from a company which started in the 1970s.

Prayers answered! Let me start by stating that I have to very young & very energetic Labrador Retrievers that love to run, swim & hike all over New England. Even though we are not taking on the summit of Mt. Everest we do get out daily for an average of 10 to 20 miles a day. We can be anywhere from the shore of Cape Cod to the Hills of the Berkshires or the White Mts. of N.H. on any given day. These boots were very comfortable right out of the box and continue to be. Arch support was my #1 concern and these have very good arch support. For personal reasons I did add arch inserts a little latter on as I have blown mine out in the past with other hikers. These boots are not heavy or bulky and the stand up very well to all the hazards & conditions that come our way. They remain waterproof after numerous times hiking through streams, making our way through swamps and encountering many bogs. Hiking & climbing with them I don't feel as if I'm wearing cinderblocks just so my feet could be protected against the elements. I have been very pleased with these boots! Prior to these Asolo PM 220 GV's I was very concerned that I would not be able to find a dependable, comfortable and weather proof hiker that would allow me to keep sharing the great outdoors with my four legged boys! The basement stairs were full of hikers that were drying out and on their last legs before the trash. They even look decent and clean up nicely.

A nice hiker despite clunky look. After the first few miles on their first hike, I knew this boot would be a winner. They have a nice "stride" to them. They "feel" lightweight and nimble despite their somewhat clunky look (probably because of the near-black color. Maybe they'll be offered in a brown color someday. Although they weigh in rather "heavy-ish" they don't feel "heavy". They insulated my feet well from the rocky, rough trail without that cumbersome, clunky boot feel. They have excellent ankle support too. Lacing is excellent, too. Traction is good on wet rocks, not great. They proved their water-proofness in an afternoon thunderstorm. Had some heel blister beginnings on the left foot after mile #7, but replacing that boot to take the pressure off the heel solved the problem. Not cheap, but they perform and act the price.

Awesome boots - I've been wearing Asolos for years, every day, because I need the side support due to very flat feet. This new model is the best yet! No break in time at all, as comfortable as can be from day one. I add arch supports of my own, so I can't comment on the arch supports in the boots. Also, Zappos is the best! Easy to order, and on my feet 2 days later!

Ready to go ... I agree with the other reviewers; while these are a bit more expensive than their peers, they are a great pair of hiking boots that justify the higher price. The fit is great, they broke in right away, and most important they make hiking (loaded or unloaded) very easy. They are a narrow shoe; so if you are on the normal to wide side, you might consider going wide. I bought the wide version and they fit my size 14 foot perfectly. My only complaint, if it is one, is that the grips on the bottom are designed for forward motion rather than gripping. In other words, it is a great shoe when hiking defined trails as opposed to a shoe designed for trailblazing.

Great Hiking Boots - Fit is great, if not slightly on the narrow. Took them winter camping recently where it was in the single digits at night. Provided good insulation, and we walked right through a near frozen stream without getting any water - airtight for sure. Took a few days to break in comfortably. Definitely buy a half size larger to fit two pairs of thick socks if you're planning on using in cold weather. Go for wide if you're not sure. All in all a great boot - walked 15 miles in them on my first trip.

Finally, The Best. I was looking for a black trekking boot for about 2 years now. Well this is not exactly black... but quite close. The Dark graphite color is almost black but now that doesnt care. These boots are AWSOME, comfortable, good looking not to heavy. If you want a nice shoe to go out and explore, maybe go to work and to be a companion on your trips, this is the one. By far the best boot ever.

Alex46254 - I've had these boots for a week now and I needed them immediately for my hobby, (outdoor photography. Now, we do not have the Sierras here in Indiana but we have miles of trails, some rocky areas and lots of mud, water run-off and general brack to trip through and in the last week I've put these boots through all of it and covered about 20 miles of trail and off trail hiking right out of the box. I also do need to get them ready for my Southwest trip coming soon- Arches National Park, Utah) They were comfortable in the store while wearing them for 20 minutes and I was pretty sold right there. The "pully" lacing system in the lowers is sweet and the hardware is top notch, none of that cheap bent metal for the laces. One other thing I like about these boots is that they are light and narrow vs. the large blocky boots that feel like sandbags. They are strong yet allow me to feel nimble getting up rocky faces and have great traction and good edges. I went from shop to the trails and they were great. Initially I had a little leather binding on my right foot just above the big toe area. However that passed after about the first mile. I got them wet and muddy by mile three and my feet were dry and warm and the boots loved the wet mud and broke in even more and felt great from there out. Once home, I just rinsed them off and let them dry and I have not had any binding problems again. I did about five miles that first day and have done about 15 since then. Another great thing about these boots is the comfort around the ankle, great padding and very nice support forward and side to side for those with weaker ankles. I lace the top a little loose usually just for comfort, but I tightened the heck out of them (like I would for rocky terrain) and they were still comfortable. All in all a great boot and I am not a full grain leather guy. I had a pair of full grain Vasque boots that took forever to break in and they still left my feet sore daily. When I hit camp, I could not wait to get them off. Enjoy, hope my opinion helps. By the way, I ordered several boots from differing makers online trying to find the right boot and sent all 5 pairs back after wearing them in my kitchen. Indiana is not what you would call the hiking boot capital of the world, so it is not easy finding anything great here outside of Timberland:) Take care and happy hiking.
