"I never knew a boot could fit so well. . .until Asolo" I have very narrow feet and did not believe I could ever find a comfortable boot for a wide variety of activities until I discovered Asolo at Zappos.com. I own several pairs in a range of colors which coordinate with my casual and sportswear. I wear them for all activities - from walking and climbing the streets of San Francisco where I live to sightseeing and hiking in cities and countries around the world. I am able to wear the boot all day without any discomfort. Thank you Zappos for the Asolo selections at great prices.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Other Asolo boots depending on activity. This is the only boot I wear.

IT DID THE JOB - All right, a review now that I've done the trek in Ladakh: The long and the short of it is that it did the job admirably. The only person not to get blisters, too. We did arduous treks at elevation. We had to cross several high passes, and the ascents and declines were very, very steep. We also had to hike through wide river beds with lots of rocks and boulders, which proved to be the hardest part. When going down sharp slopes, I didn't bang my toes against the end. Probably because I sized a whole size up. Great traction on boulders. Great ankle support over rocks and small boulders. Lightweight enough not to feel like I was carrying rocks on my feet. Good water protection on the day we had a downpour and when I got my boot in one river. The laces stay tied and there are only two levels of laces to fiddle with. This section of rubber at the sides of heels got chewed up by the rocks, but nothing too bad. The funny thing is that some of the pony men who provide trek support wore loafers or tennis shoes or, in one case, rubber sandals so I felt we were over-geared----especially when we met this young New Zealand couple who did the same trek with sport sandals!

It should be fine for an arduous trek. I bought these boots for a trek in Ladakh, which I have yet to take. I've been wearing them once or twice a week to gradually work them in. The tricky part about boots is that you have to factor thick hiking socks when you determine fit. I think that a person should size up by a half or whole. I went a whole size up after blowing $200 on another full-grain pair of Asolos. (I beat them up so I couldn't justify returning them.) The other thing to consider is if your toes hit the end of the boot on a steep decline. For me, a whole size larger, they don't. I like these boots because they are lighter than other full-grain leather boots. The laces stay tied. I feel like I have full support. I like the look--I got the tan and orange pair. No blisters so far, although I haven't gone on a hike longer than an hour. The tongue bothered me at first; too tough against my ankle, but now it's fine. Yes, I'd recommend the boot.
