Nice "Wrist-Clock" - Understand that this is not a small watch and might look a little funny on a child or small wrist. The three main gadgets all work pretty well. The compass even allows the angle of declination to be set, and works well. The thermometer seems very accurate. I honestly have not monitored the performance of the tides function much yet, but it is certainly accurate enough throughout a trip, if set at the beginning of the trip. It is likely that the band will not last too long, and so you may want to order a couple of extras from Timex (total cost is $18.60 for 2 extra bands). The colors of the face and hands work very well outdoors, but are (expectedly) non optimal for night time use. The Indiglo feature allows you to (barely) see the time at night. Whoops! I almost forgot to say that it really keeps accurate time. I have also banged it quite hard a couple of times and everything works. I would recommend that you consider extending the warranty with Timex. It comes with a 1 year warranty, but for only 5 bucks, you can extend it to a 5 year warranty. Overall, I am very satisfied with the purchase. And Zappos.com is always a good place to purchase from.
