La Sportiva Glacier - Awesome boot. I've worn Merrell's and loved the Asolo Yukon which are no longer available. This boot is a definite great replacement.

These Glacier boots are awesome. They are lighter than my Hathorn's and the support is equal. I ordered my normal size and they fit perfect. I dont have much of an arch (arch support?). The break-in period is "zero", nothing rubs, nothing hurts, almost like I've worn them for a season. And the customer service at Zappos is a 10. Express delivery and all notifications done right, done fast!

Happy feet in the ash - I bought the boot because it's one of the few "approved" wild land firefighting boots; several of the folks at our station are wearing them with lots of praise. Mine fit nice right out of the box!! They are a lil' hotter than my White's, but great ankle support!!!! Customer service was excellent and shipping was next day... very satisfied... Columbia Sportswear Rep wanted to look at them!!!!!!!!?

Wont last long - I bought these boots for wild land fire season a month ago. I have worn them for 14 straight days with no heat to speak of and they are already coming unglued around the toes and top of the boots. If you have normal to thin ankles stay away beacuse once they break in you will not be able to get them as tight as you may like. On the other hand they are very comfortable.

Glacier review - I wish the shoe had come in different widths, although I usually wear an insert so all worked out. However, when I synched down the right boot the material or rubber in the toe box created a wrinkle on the inside. My big toe would hit the wrinkle whenever I did not wear the boot tight. I was able to fix this problem by not utilizing the first two eyes on the boot. This works fine for me. A small portion of the rubber did come unglued from one of the boots, but this I expected and quickly fixed it with superglue. Thanks for the free shipping and free returns. I initially intended to order three pair in different sizes and send back the two that didn't fit, but when the boots arrived another firefighter here at the station bought a pair from me so I only sent one pair back. Thanks...

Mountaineering Boots - I had to outfit 2 boys to go on a challenging wilderness adventure in Alaska. I did alot of research and learned about crampons which these boots had to be compatible with. They were perfect. The fit was true to size for a medium width foot which my boys had. The boots fit well with liner and outer socks. The break in period was 4 to 7 days. I waterproofed with mink oil and they were good to go. Maybe I can review again when they get home!
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Check out Zappos other mountaineering boots with crampon compatibility. They have alot!

The best workhorse hiking boot I've found - I install ski lifts for a living and spend an average of 60 hrs a week walking in these boots for six to seven months a year. This is my third pair of La Sportivas. I have tried other brands and none have held up as well as these or were as comfortable. I usually get two years out of a pair. This is my third pair. I'd recommend them to anyone. Comfortable from day one and very waterproof if they are sealed regularly. Good price, excellent quality, field tested

Wildland Firerighter's Boot - Looks to be a well made, comfortable, and well designed boot. I was truly looking forward to having a replacement for my White's and Nick's that have been weighting me down for years. However, these boots run SMALL and the largest size offered do not fit my size 14 feet. I'd gladly return this pair for a larger size if available. Buy 'em if you have smaller feet!! Looks like you'll all see me on the fire line in my old boots.

watch sizing... These boots rock, after only a few days of wear they are comfy as slippers. Watch the sizing though, I ususlly wear a 8.5-9, I ordered the corresponding size and it was way too small. Zappos was great about the exchange both directions and I went up to the 9.5 size which fits perfectly. Next stop...Patagonia!

Outstanding - One day in these boots and I was in love. I haven't had the time to take them out and really test them but for a boot with this type of built in stability and function they are outstanding. One day in them and I was sold. I've worn the Makalu for 5 hears straight traveling the world and never needed another boot. These boots are equal in performance but has shorting brake in period and their lighter.

I'm buying a second pair. I live in Alaska and bought these boots and they are the best boot I have ever owned. For the rough terrain, snow and ice that is so common up here they do fine. They are also resonably comfortable to hike short flat trails in. I was really dissappointed when the cloth eyelit ripped on me. The boots seemed so well-made that I think it must have been a fluke and so I am getting another pair.

Review of La Sportiva's Glacier - I bought this boot to trek Kilimanjaro. I looked at many others brands including Montrail, Merrell, Dunham, and Asolo. This boot stands out from all the rest. It is a light duty mountaineering boot, but flexible enough for trekking. Break in was surprisingly short. The boot is stiff, yet comfortable for long hikes. I will update this review when I get back from Kili.

Comfortable foot armor - Comfortable to hike or backpack in, ascending or descending. Very comfortable scrambling along rocks & boulders. Good fit, has half-sizes--no blisters, so no need for "break-in" period. Waterproof like GoreTex (GTX), but without the GTX associated heat buildup--Wish they had leather liners & had Norwegian stitch. Comfortable foot armor. Awesome.
