I've been through many safety shoes over the years and these shoes have terrible traction in a machine shop with floors slick with coolant and oil. It was like walking on ice while mopping up a coolant leak recently. I find myself avoiding every little slippery patch on the floor now. Disappointing too is the arch support which I'd rate a bit less then moderate. The only plus is that they look great.

Finally! I finally found a steel-toed pair of shoes that are comfortable and exactly the style I was looking for! They are more comfortable and practical than heavy duty steel-toed boots. Warning: I wear a size six normally so I ordered the 6 1/2, but they were still too small so I had to exchange them for a 7. So get at least a whole size bigger. The return/exchange was absolutely the best and easiest process I have ever experienced... ever! Free shipping, free return/exchange, no charge to send another pair. I was so pleased and will always go to Zappos.com first to look for shoes. :)

So far so good. Okay, I wear a steel toe for work and I got these and am currently "breaking them in" to take out into the field. They are heavier than the average tennis shoe but lighter than my timberland work boots. People around the office liken them to moon boots because the sole is larger and I am very tall when wearing these. I am wearing a size 9.5 in this shoe and I normally wear between an 8-8 1/2, but I like my steel toes to be roomy and I hate feeling cramped. So far, very comfy. :)

I work in a paper mill, steel toed shoes are a necessity and these are about the best that I've put on my feet. Surprisingly, they took little time to break in and are light as well as comfortable. In a year, this is the third pair I've tried to wear and this is about the best I've found with the protection that I need to wear.
