Stiff and Tight - The suede was low-grade and stiff. The boot was tight to the point of restricting circulation even though I followed other reviewers' recommendations to purchase a 1/2 size up from my true size. They were super warm and would've been good boots for winter in the city. If you MUST get these, I'd say get a full size larger than you normally wear if you plan on wearing thin socks. A size and a half larger if you wear thick winter socks.

Columbia Kiowa - Really nice boot but I also recommend going up half a size as the boot seemed a little snug in my regular size.

Kiowa boot - I haven't had a chance to really wear these boots yet (I'm waiting until its cold), but so far they are a great boot. However, I recommend ordering a half size larger if you plan on wearing thick socks with this boot. I ordered an 8 1/2 and the boot fit my feet snug without any socks on, so I'm sure it will be tight with thick socks.

I thought suede was soft... I thought these boots, being suede, would make them flexible and soft. They were hard and stiff as a rock! And one toe box was crushed in and with no give to the leather, it was therefore, very uncomfortable with no hope of breaking it in. Not what I expected at all in the fit and comfort department after reading the other reviews here. The Cayenne is a great color, though-- the thing looked good.

Comfortable snow shoes - Living in the woods in Maine, I've worn many brands of winter boots over the years. Columbia's Kiowas are both comfortable and handsome (especially for snow shoes!). I can go for my morning walk in the woods with the dogs, then work in my studio all day then out to dinner all in the same pair of shoes. Thanks Columbia and Zappos.

so far so good - This was my first time buying snow boots since I just moved from central Texas to Chicago, so I don't really have anything to compare to. I took the advice of other Columbia boot reviewers and bought a half size larger. Even with socks I still had some extra room, but this probably won't be a problem once I wear thicker winter socks or add an insole. The boots pull on/off really easily and are very stylish; they're not huge and awkward like other boots I've seen. I have slim legs so I had quite a bit of room at the top of the boot, but if I tuck in my pants that shouldn't be a problem.
