Perfecto - Just got back from a fabulous REI trip to Costa Rica where these shoes PERFORMED! They are lightweight, dry fast (synthetic), supportive, and stable. I got the clay color and they look great with khaki-ish pants; fine with other colors. I ended up with a size 6 even though my normal size is a 7. I did not break these in before I left, so I took a pair of running shoes just in case, but these Salomon's 3D Fastpackers were wonderful; never hurt or rubbed. They stayed cool and gave me the stability I needed to hike over rough terrain, including loose lava rocks. (My running shoes did not have enough stability.) I can't recommend them enough! P.S. I also got the Teva Westwater for water sports (kayaking, rafting, and canoeing) and they were fabulous as well. Zappos may cut me off some day, but they were wonderful to deal with since I tried on and returned several other shoes.
