Terrific summer weather shoe! I walk dogs and needed a summer sneaker with great ventilation, can handle wet weather well and is trail-ready. This shoe fits the bill perfectly. I had a pair of Salomon amphibious sneaks last summer that were absolutely adequate, but were so light-weight that they felt more amphibious than a rugged sneaker. Not so with the Zobas. They fit like a glove right out of the box. They were on my doorstep the next morning (after ordering them past regular business hours the night before, thanks Zappo's, you rock!), and have held up pretty well. I say that because I wear a rigid ankle brace all day with them, and the design of the brace has worn a patch out of the back heel of the shoe over time. However, this happens with most shoes that I wear the brace with. To the shoe's comfortability credit, when I have worn them without socks and without the brace, the worn patch is not noticeable at all! To that end, I always felt that the Salomon's I had looked pretty geeky when worn with socks, but the North Face Zobas actually looked pretty natural and cool. I also can really feel the torsion-resistance in the sneaker when I step off of a curb funny. I would recommend this shoe wholeheartedly.

I like these shoes more than I ever thought I would. They are comfortable, light and have excellent traction for the river/creek. They also dry pretty quick. I actually took these on a 4 hour tubing trip this week with my girlfriend. We dropped my car off at the takeout spot and drove her car to the put-in. About 2 hours into floating, I realized I forgot my keys in her car. Long story short, I ended up getting out of the creek in these shoes (wet) and running 3 miles back to her car. They held up well for the run and were actually comfortable.

Not expecting the holes - I did not know that this was essentially a sandal. I thought it was a sneaker. And that my hubbie could wear it in the winter, not to go trudging through the snow but just for everyday. It does fit well, so he's going to keep them for next summer, but it should have been much clearer. There needs to be a name for the sneaker/sandal hybrid, or just say that.
