Great fit and truly waterproof - I tried at least 10 other shoes before I found this pair. I have a narrow foot, extra narrow heel, but these fit very well. I like the extra tread on the sole, prevents slipping. Easy to put on and take off. Best part: Truly waterproof.

Love em'! I really love the Hedgehog shoes. My only tiny little qualm about them is I wish they were a little more supportive. I feel like they won't last very long. No break in time needed, they were comfortable right off the bat! I'll be using them in Peru and will see how they work out!

These have good traction and I feel sure footed over loose rocks and uneven ground. The waterproofing keeps out morning dew. I have the Plaza Taupe/Auburn Brown and I think the color combo looks much nicer in person.

One Incredible Shoe! I never expected a shoe to perform as well as this one has. I am an avid hiker and took my first 14-day canyoneering trip hiking over 100 miles of trails and slot canyons beginning with Zion, Bryce, Cedar Breaks, Kodachrome Basin, Esacalente, Capital Reef, Boulder Mtn, Grand Canyon, including Paria Canyon/Vermillion Cliffs area, Coyote Gulch, Buckskin Gulch and the increasingly popular 'The Wave'. I felt like I was Spiderwoman with these shoes on, I never slipped once and was scrambling rock falls and slot canyons for up to 10 hrs a day! I would HIGHLY recommend these shoes to anyone who hikes in multiple environment conditions, wet/dry, sandy/rock/mud/dirt. They out performed my Columbia's and Hi-Tec's hands down. The only con (if you call it that because I use these in ALL my shoes/sneakers no matter what I buy) I used my orthodics instead of these inserts they came with. EXCELLENT SHOE!!

Comfy from the get go - These fit perfectly on my size 8 medium foot. I ordered about 6 pairs of different brand hiking shoes as I have difficulty getting a shoe to fit my narrow heal and high arch. These were by far the best fit. As with any good quality shoe, there is no break in period. They perform well on walking paths, wet grasses, as well as rocky hillside hiking. There is some slipping on wet metal surfaces such as manhole covers or metal grates. I have the blue color which goes very well with jeans.

Very comfy - After reading the reviews on this site and a lot of research, I bought this shoe for my backpacking trip to the Grand Canyon. These were really comfortable and my feet did not hurt a bit, even after wearing these for 3 days. As said, these are waterproof and I know this because we had lots of rain on our way down and these held up pretty well. I got half a size bigger, but I think even one full size bigger would be fine.

Very durable - I wore these in Sun Valley, Idaho over Labor Day Weekend and hiked over 30 miles across all types of terrain including water. They are awesome. Size is true to fit. No need to break them in. No blisters. I love these trail runners!

Very light and well constructed. They are comfortable right out of the box. I am able to tie them in a way that can accommodate my narrow heels. I love that they are waterproof yet breathable. A winner for me! Thank you again Zappos!

Looks good, feels good. I wanted a hiking shoe that had some water resistant properties cause I live in SEATTLE!! Wore the shoe up Mt. Rainier a couple weekends ago thru dirt, snow, and mud and it was amazing! My feet were comfy and dry and blister free after some rigorous hiking. I would recommend to anyone cause it looks as great as it feels! Thanks to Zappos for getting my order to me overnight - you guys rock. :)

Hiker - Nice shoe. I must comment that the tongue is really padded at the top and takes a bit getting used to. I played with various methods of tying them before finding a solution that now works great. I am replacing a worn Lowa mid hiker. These are lighter. I hike and often backpack with 35 pounds so require the Vibram sole. I need a large toe box so I ordered a half size up which worked great. They are a great fit right out of the box. I have yet to take them backpacking or any hike over 5 miles but to date they have served me well.

Great shoes for agility! I love my North Face shoes. I have lots of trouble finding comfortable shoes. This is my second pair and I am thinking of buying another. I wear them mostly when training my agility dog. The only thing I was not wild about was the color choices but fit and function wins out over fashion any day!

Highly rated hikers really are great - Outdoor magazine rated these as best overall for women, and they really are. Hold well on the trail, waterproof, dustproof, good fit. Only disappointment is that arch is not as high as reported. But fine with inserts. Great buy.

Just love these shoes! I've never owned any North Face shoes and didn't know what to expect. I love these. The comfort and fit are wonderful and I really like the look as well. The only thing that bothers me a wee bit is that the top of the laces fall under the tongue when you are putting them on. I'd actually love it if these had one of those cinches that made you not have to even bother with tying, but not a big deal -- great shoe!!

Hiking Heaven - I bought these for a trip to Alaska. Initially, I thought they seemed uncomfortable around the laces but with a heavier sock, these were perfect. They got a lot of wear on our trip and my feet and legs, and even my lower back, felt great after very long days filled with walking. They have become my go to shoe and my favorite for exercising due to the great support.

Tongue tied - This shoe's sole was very comfortable and the shoe was true to size, with plenty of room in the toe box. It's also an attractive, cool looking shoe. My only complaint, which is often my problem with hiking/athletic shoes, is that the tongue bunched up and did not sit flat on the top of my foot. I really wanted to love this shoe, but alas, I had to return them for that reason--just before ordering these, I had spent a week hiking in the Smokies with a pair of cheap hiking shoes that gave me the same problem, which is not fun after a 10-mile hike...I vowed not to settle for that problem again.

Great Summer Hiking Shoe - My family and I are day hikers. I ordered these hiking shoes right before a week in the Smokys, so they came out of the box and went immediately on the trail. They were absolutely the most comfortable hiking shoes I've ever worn. It rained some while we were on the trail and the shoes had great traction, even on slippery, wet rocks. I also ordered these same shoes for my daughters in the youth sizes. Their shoes performed equally well in the mountains. In fact, they prefer them to their tennis shoes at home. Great shoes, great price!

The North Face's Women's Hedgehog GTX XCR - I only use this shoe for hiking...it's a good fit, not too heavy on your feet, breathes well and has great traction, but if you hike a lot, as I do, it runs down fast! Would suggest using a different foot insert (gel or something to that extent...not much cushion and/or arch support).

LOVED Them! I ordered these to wear around Alaska...I just got back from my trip and not only were they comfortable, they are totally waterproof. I walked in all conditions, Rain, snow, sun, cold, warm...they did the job in every respect in all climates and terrains. I noticed they were a little slippery on wet slick things (like sewer grating, things like that) but otherwise the grip on paths, forest, and city blocks was amazing. My feet were warm in cold, rainy weather and did not feel hot on sunny humid days. I highly recommend these shoes for hiking, as well as running errands around town.

Toe box too tight for me - I tried this shoe and the 104 GTX XCR, and both were too narrow in the toe box. I eventually chose the Merrell Chameleon Arc Gore-Tex shoe, which has a generous toe box and also a substantial padded tongue, which keeps my foot from sliding forward when going down hill. The best of both worlds!

North Face Hedgehog - I ordered these shoes for a hiking trip without enough time to break them in! Ok - not smart but they ended up being extremely comfortable. I love the slight angle at the toe - perfect for scrambling steeper slopes. I tried them on in a local sports store and the 8.5 seemed too big. I wanted to be sure. They didn't have the 8 in stock and they also didn't have the color selection so I ordered from Zappos. I ordered the 8 and 8.5 to make sure I had the right size - normally 8.5 for me. The 8 did end up being too tight for my 8.5 foot and the 8.5 seemed slightly too large - but I could have been nervous about new shoes before a long hike and the thought of possible blisters. I took the 8.5 and wore nice thick hiking socks. They were perfect and true to size. I personally think they are very stylish and like the grey with a splash of color to accent.

Just love these shoes! I've never owned any North Face shoes and didn't know what to expect. I love these. The comfort and fit are wonderful and I really like the look as well. The only thing that bothers me a wee bit is that the top of the laces fall under the tongue when you are putting them on. I'd actually love it if these had one of those cinches that made you not have to even bother with tying, but not a big deal -- great shoe!!

Hiking Heaven - I bought these for a trip to Alaska. Initially, I thought they seemed uncomfortable around the laces but with a heavier sock, these were perfect. They got a lot of wear on our trip and my feet and legs, and even my lower back, felt great after very long days filled with walking. They have become my go to shoe and my favorite for exercising due to the great support.

Tongue tied - This shoe's sole was very comfortable and the shoe was true to size, with plenty of room in the toe box. It's also an attractive, cool looking shoe. My only complaint, which is often my problem with hiking/athletic shoes, is that the tongue bunched up and did not sit flat on the top of my foot. I really wanted to love this shoe, but alas, I had to return them for that reason--just before ordering these, I had spent a week hiking in the Smokies with a pair of cheap hiking shoes that gave me the same problem, which is not fun after a 10-mile hike...I vowed not to settle for that problem again.

Great Summer Hiking Shoe - My family and I are day hikers. I ordered these hiking shoes right before a week in the Smokys, so they came out of the box and went immediately on the trail. They were absolutely the most comfortable hiking shoes I've ever worn. It rained some while we were on the trail and the shoes had great traction, even on slippery, wet rocks. I also ordered these same shoes for my daughters in the youth sizes. Their shoes performed equally well in the mountains. In fact, they prefer them to their tennis shoes at home. Great shoes, great price!

The North Face's Women's Hedgehog GTX XCR - I only use this shoe for hiking...it's a good fit, not too heavy on your feet, breathes well and has great traction, but if you hike a lot, as I do, it runs down fast! Would suggest using a different foot insert (gel or something to that extent...not much cushion and/or arch support).

LOVED Them! I ordered these to wear around Alaska...I just got back from my trip and not only were they comfortable, they are totally waterproof. I walked in all conditions, Rain, snow, sun, cold, warm...they did the job in every respect in all climates and terrains. I noticed they were a little slippery on wet slick things (like sewer grating, things like that) but otherwise the grip on paths, forest, and city blocks was amazing. My feet were warm in cold, rainy weather and did not feel hot on sunny humid days. I highly recommend these shoes for hiking, as well as running errands around town.

Toe box too tight for me - I tried this shoe and the 104 GTX XCR, and both were too narrow in the toe box. I eventually chose the Merrell Chameleon Arc Gore-Tex shoe, which has a generous toe box and also a substantial padded tongue, which keeps my foot from sliding forward when going down hill. The best of both worlds!

North Face Hedgehog - I ordered these shoes for a hiking trip without enough time to break them in! Ok - not smart but they ended up being extremely comfortable. I love the slight angle at the toe - perfect for scrambling steeper slopes. I tried them on in a local sports store and the 8.5 seemed too big. I wanted to be sure. They didn't have the 8 in stock and they also didn't have the color selection so I ordered from Zappos. I ordered the 8 and 8.5 to make sure I had the right size - normally 8.5 for me. The 8 did end up being too tight for my 8.5 foot and the 8.5 seemed slightly too large - but I could have been nervous about new shoes before a long hike and the thought of possible blisters. I took the 8.5 and wore nice thick hiking socks. They were perfect and true to size. I personally think they are very stylish and like the grey with a splash of color to accent.
