For my needs in a size 14 shoe, these are much lighter than others such as Hurricane Ridge, and strong enough in technical-rocky trail running such as the McKenzie River Ultra. Absolutely no blisters, no lost toenails from long runs with these shoes. I did have to drill the final loop holes out in order to get the laces through. Otherwise great shoes. I'll wear them on the Lithia Loop Trail Marathon because they fit well enough for the long downhill portion of that race.

I just finished the Leadville 100 trail race in this shoe. I ran the fist 70 miles in the Brooks Cascadia. Conditions were very muddy (hail and rain). Both shoes are excellent. I have wide feet (D/E) and was happy with both shoes.

I ordered a pair of Montrail Streak trail shoes and wore them casually day-to-day, on short walks in the mountains, around town here (1.5-3.5 miles), and longer walks while camping. The shoes were very comfortable and light I liked them! After the first month, I noticed the tread lifting on each shoe on the inside back corner, about 3/8 of an inch. I just went ahead and repaired them with Shoe Goo. But after another month I noticed that one of the braided loops on the right hand shoe that holds the shoe string was broken, and the tread started to depart again, now about ½ inch. I was amazed these shoes started to fail so soon under light use! But Zappos cheerfully took the shoes back and gave me credit and I'm ordering another pair of some other brand.

Overall very nice shoe. Shoelaces started to wear with one week of use. A little disappointed with ease of tightening and loosening shoe.

Great Shoe - This shoe has served extremely well for all of the strenuous hikes it has seen. Grips exceptionally well on descents and is fast and light to address all the climbs. The heel cup cradles the foot and helps stabilize the ankles on switchbacks and the fit is snug enough to keep the foot in place yet accommodates swell on longer trips. Order a half size up as this one runs a little on the small size.

Review after 1 month - I was always a fan on the Montrail Masai and have been searching for their replacement ever since they stopped making them a few years ago and I think I finally have! I love these shoes; they fit securely around the top of the foot and have a roomy toe box. They are light weight and stable on and off the pavement. Overall, a great shoe if the fit is right for you.

Too Stiff - The Pros: Lightweight. Cushioned. Good Tread. Con: Too Stiff. Having had Plantar Fasciitis, I believe the cause was that my shoes did not flex. I threw out the Highlander & NB 872. As with this shoe as I am finding with road shoes the manufactures are making the bottom of the shoe in the arch area rigid. I also use Saucony for the road. My favorite is the Masai; unfortunately it ripped out real fast!! But boy was it comfy on long runs.

Excellent Trail Shoe - Pro's: this is a fine trail shoe, light as trail shoes go, outstanding bruise protection from rocks, good traction on rocks, secure fit, roomy toebox, secure heel fit, nice heel-toe transition, feels responsive, yet stable, firm cushioning leads to the stability and some energy return, conducts itself adequately on short road segments, well made, very little welt, and NEUTRAL (spell that, it won't injure you as it ages) Cons': I haven't noticed any defects worth mentioning These shoes are sized properly; I wound up with the same size as my street shoes, whereas most running shoes I seem to have to size up a half size or more.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Inov 8 - 305 (but is narrow)
