I looked high and low for a stylish, mid-size hiker with vibram soles. These are the boots I ended up finding and I'm happy. Overall, they are very good boots. My only real complaint is that the laces have a tendency to come undone. I think this is partially due to the lacing mechanism itself, but I think it can also be solved by getting new laces (flat as opposed to round), which I intend to do. Zappos' service was great. I ordered the boots at around 4:30 p.m. and selected ground shipping, but Zappos upgraded my shipping for free and I received them the next day by noon. That was a nice touch.

These would be the best boots ever if they would not fall apart. After 10 dog walks around the neighborhood and 1 hardcore day hike to break these bad boys in, I wore these on a serious backpacking trip. We hiked over 4 12,000 foot passes in 3 days. These were the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. My feet felt great. Unfortunately, the glue is failing on the front of one boot. The upper material on top of the toe box has separated from the sole where it curves up to protect the toes. I'm sure that Patagonia uses some special adhesive that is more environmentally friendly or something...
