I was hesitant to buy these for my son based on the reviews, as we had a pair of New Balance sneakers with bungee laces and we literally had to use a shoe horn to get them on him every time. I did not want to go through that again! I ordered these in his normal size and he is able to put them on himself, I had to show him how to hold the tongue (which yes, it is short) while putting his foot in and then hold the back to pull them on and he had no problems. He has wide feet and says they are comfortable which I have no doubt as I have Sauconys myself. I had given up on finding stylish kids sneakers without characters and such on them so I started looking online. These totally fit the bill. Plus Zappos is awesome! I received these the day after ordering knowing if they didn't work, I could send them back at no cost to me. Thanks Zappos! I say give these shoes a try, if they don't work out, you can always return them. I'm sure glad we did!

My 5 year old son couldn't get these on his feet either. It's not that the tongue is too short, it is because it can't be pulled out far enough. A shame, because they are very nice and durable looking shoes.

This was a good shoe for my son who has narrow feet. The only negative I would say is the tongue is short making it a little hard for him to get it on.

Nice Sneaker - Great looking sneaker. My 5-year old son claims these shoes are hard to get on, but I think they just need a break-in period. He's had them for a few weeks now and wears them often. Zappos was awesome as usual.

Tongue is too short. These are very hard to get on. The back crushes down and folds over so you have to get in there and pull it out. Also, the tongue is so short that there's nothing to grab to straighten it out. Once they're on, my kid loves them.
