I bought these because I am pregnant and my job requires me to be on my feet most of the day, but I needed to have close toed shoes per our company dress code. These shoes have been a lifesaver! Super comfortable yet with the detailing, they are dressy enough to wear with skirts, dresses and slacks. I have always been happy with my Keen purchases, but they have been only outdoor shoes until now. I have been recommending these to all my pregnant friends! My feet tend to be a little wide, and I haven't had a single blister or pinching with these shoes.

What color is Rich Tea? OK, online Rich Tea looks like a muted shade of red, but "in person" the shoe is a rich rose color. Because of this strange (unusual color) I was ready to return these cuties, but when I realized that they went with many of my outfits, now Zappos would have to come and pry them off my little feet! Wow! With denim it is perfect. Great comfortable shoe; closest thing to a sandal even though the toe is mostly closed. Zappos has been there for me; foot surgery (only closed toe shoes), Zappos people suggested new brands that would work -- personal service. I had to replace most of my shoe wardrobe - what fun! And I know I can always return any shoe that does not work. Ordered these late Saturday and was shocked when the box appeared on my porch, Monday. This is my third pair of Keens and I know they won't be the last. I'm a proud, and bragging, Zappos VIP customer!

Very comfortable shoe. If you have high arches, it might rub a bit on the top. It bothered me a little at first, but has since softened up.

Out of five pair, these are my favorite Keens. This style is slightly narrower than the others which tends to fit my foot a little better. The size is right on, other than the slight width difference. They are black with brown trim. I didn’t notice the small amount of brown in the photo, but like the color combination as I can wear with a wider variety of outfits. I wear these shoes with everything from sundresses to PJs. Love ‘em, love ‘em, love ‘em.

I bought this shoe because I had read the reviews about it and also because I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot so some shoes work and others don’t. These are very comfortable to wear and I would recommend them to anyone who has feet problems.

This is my updated review of this sandal. I purchased this sandal because I needed close-toed sandals (due to a freak loss of one toenail). Initially I thought they were fairly comfortable, but with repeated wear, I have found that the insole is very uncomfortable. My feet feel as if I have been walking on rough pavement after wearing these sandals for about 4 hours while doing a major cooking job. I cannot recommend these sandals from a comfort perspective, unless you plan to wear them with socks. I usually spend my entire summer wearing sandals; this is the first pair I have ever worn than were so hard on my soles.

Usually love Keens, however, these are not as comfortable as usual. Have to agree w/ reviewer about them being unusually stiff across the top strap; also hoping they break in a little more since I can only wear them half a day. Foot bed is quite comfortable (as usual) and length is true. Good arch support, and they are not chunky, but slim and sleek if you are not big on high heels. They do look nice w/ capris.

I purchased these sandals because I lost a toenail and need some close-toed sandals for the summer. These sandals are quite comfortable and are great for very casual wear with jeans. They are a bit clunky in appearance, and I would not wear them with capris, shorts, or skirts. I have worn them working in the yard and love the toe protection; I will be taking them along this summer for outdoor adventures where casual hiking in hot weather demands sandals.

Keen San Mateo - I have Keen Hikers and they are great, really comfortable which is why I ordered the sandals. I like them but they are stiff and rub on the top of my foot. I like the fact that they protect your toes and have good arch support; I'm hoping they soften up as I wear them.

Great shoe! I loved the style of this sandal...love that my toes are protested and not exposed. They are stylish, all day comfy and come in great colors!

Cute, comfy - It is not yet sandal weather in Wisconsin, but these feel great wearing around the house. I have a wide foot and a high arch, and these fit well. I ordered the size I normally wear in Keens, an 8, and they fit well. I originally got the red, but found them to be a weird pinkish-red. I returned them for the basic black.

Comfort, comfort, comfort!!!! I have neuropathy in my feet and experience pain day and night. Neuropathy is a nerve disorder that creates a needles and pins like feeling all over the feet and/or hands. Keen has created some fine shoes that I can wear without too much pain. I work and wear business suits. The San Mateo keen and another keen I have are what I wear to work. the two styles of keen that I have, may not be business attire, but I’m feeling good and they look fabulous with what I wear when I wear none business attire like jeans etc. I love keens!

These keen shoes are so comfortable, I purchased 3 pair. One of the pair is mis-sized. I couldn’t figure out why my left shoe was rubbing my foot on the top, after looking closely, I found that the left shoe is about an inch shorter than the right and they are both marked a size 10. I did not have my boxes and had worn them a week, so I did not make a return, but overall they are comfortable and look nice with skirts or jeans.

Very cute, but not as comfortable as it might look - The red version of this shoe is adorable. Fit is great (width and length), but the leather over the instep is too tight for true comfort. Hoping that stretches out with time!

Keen San Mateo - I love this shoe! I'm a huge Keen fan and I was not let down by this shoe. I typically wear a 7.5 in Keens and that is what I bought. I'm a teacher and I'm on my feet all day. I can wear this shoe all day long with no problems. I have worn my other Keens while teaching pregnant (the Keen Calistoga) . I would have done the same in the San Mateo. So if you want a comfortable, yet cute shoe, don't hesitate!

Another great Keen shoe. Sassy/dressy enough for work, and functional enough for the beach. The shoe was stiff the first time I wore it, but that one day was all it took to soften the leather. Love them!

This is a great shoe to just slip on and go. Looks good with shorts, pants and even casual skirts. I think about every time I've worn them, someone will say, "I love those shoes!" They're unique as they don't look like all the others. VERY comfortable as well.

VERY Pleased with Keen San Mateo & Zappos!! This is the 2nd pair I have ordered and LOVE them. The first was black...but was adventurous this time and ordered a greenish color. Plan to order more, plus I have ordered other Keens. They are truly my favs and the most comfortable of this type of shoe. Would rather have a few pair of moderate-expensive that are comfortable than a closet of cheap that I can't wear. Very highly recommend Keen and ZAPPOS!! Need to order 1/2 size smaller than normally wear.

Very Cute - I really like this shoe. I have been wearing the Balis for a couple of years now and love them. These give me the same comfort with a nicer look.

My last pair of Keens? I own several pairs of Keen sandals and shoes. Of all my purchases, this was the worst. The fit is questionable. The shoe slides off very easily. In contrast with previous Keen designs, it has no grip or recessed sole to keep the foot steady. The sole feels hollow, cheap, offers no arch support. It is basically a Teva now, so I don't see the point in paying so much more for a pair of Keens than the cheaper competition. San Mateo looks better than it feels, but overall it leaves much to be desired. Perhaps Keen decided to go to lighter/cheaper construction. Whatever it is, a disappointing purchase for me. I'll think twice about buying Keens again, especially online.

I had a small problem with rubbing on the top of my foot and it took about a week to break this shoe in, but once I got over that, I loved them. They feel secure on my feet and I don't have the ache in my feet at the end of the day I would have with other clogs.

Keen's San Mateo - I found this shoe very comfortable and got several compliments. An excellent airport shoe. Can wear with or without socks.

VERY Pleased with Keen San Mateo & Zappos!! This is the 2nd pair I have ordered and LOVE them. The first was black...but was adventurous this time and ordered a greenish color. Plan to order more, plus I have ordered other Keens. They are truly my favs and the most comfortable of this type of shoe. Would rather have a few pair of moderate-expensive that are comfortable than a closet of cheap that I can't wear. Very highly recommend Keen and ZAPPOS!! Need to order 1/2 size smaller than normally wear.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Born, Merrels.....but Keen are the best

Very Cute - I really like this shoe. I have been wearing the Balis for a couple of years now and love them. These give me the same comfort with a nicer look.

My last pair of Keens? I own several pairs of Keen sandals and shoes. Of all my purchases, this was the worst. The fit is questionable. The shoe slides off very easily. In contrast with previous Keen designs, it has no grip or recessed sole to keep the foot steady. The sole feels hollow, cheap, offers no arch support. It is basically a Teva now, so I don't see the point in paying so much more for a pair of Keens than the cheaper competition. San Mateo looks better than it feels, but overall it leaves much to be desired. Perhaps Keen decided to go to lighter/cheaper construction. Whatever it is, a disappointing purchase for me. I'll think twice about buying Keens again, especially online.

I had a small problem with rubbing on the top of my foot and it took about a week to break this shoe in, but once I got over that, I loved them. They feel secure on my feet and I don't have the ache in my feet at the end of the day I would have with other clogs.
